Javed Miandad Spoiled Aamir Khan's Wedding with Reena Dutta

When fans search for Aamir Khan’s wedding story, they usually expect a tale of romance, secrecy, and star-studded drama. What they don’t anticipate is how a single cricket shot, Javed Miandad’s legendary last-ball six, once hijacked the Bollywood icon’s big day.

It was 1985, and 21-year-old Aamir Khan had just tied the knot with Reena Dutta in a quiet court ceremony. With both families against their union, particularly Reena’s side, the couple decided to marry in secret. The plan was simple: disappear for a while, get married, and return to a storm of questions. But instead of facing confrontation, they returned home to complete silence. No one had noticed they were gone.

Aamir Khan’s wedding story with Reena turned horror with Miandad’s six

As it turns out, the entire family was glued to the television screen, caught up in the gripping final moments of an India-Pakistan cricket clash. “Mujhe laga sab puchenge kahaan the itni der,” Aamir later said. But everyone was too engrossed in the match to care. What happened next made the situation even more surreal.

That fateful game saw Javed Miandad smashing a six off the last ball, snatching victory from India’s hands. For Aamir, the joy of marriage was instantly soured. “Javed’s six ruined it all,” he admitted. Instead of celebrating his new life, the future star sank into a brief depression. He recalled, “It was India-Pakistan match day… We were winning that match, so nobody cared to ask us about our absence… Depression mein chala gaya tha mai.”

Years later, Aamir ran into Miandad on a flight and couldn’t resist bringing up the incident. “Javed bhai aapne meri shadi barbaad kardi,” he joked. Miandad, surprised, asked how. Aamir replied, “Usi din aapne chakka mara tha.”

Eventually, Reena’s father discovered the truth and suffered a heart attack from the shock. Ironically, that same incident opened doors for reconciliation between the families. Though Aamir and Reena’s marriage ended in 2002, their story remains a unique blend of love, rebellion, and one unforgettable cricket match.
