B-Love Kandy finally secured their first points on the board with a comprehensive victory over Dambulla. They were up against the wall in their previous encounter with Galle, but the addition of Fakhar Zaman and a change of venue has turned their fortunes around.
Fakhar and Chandimal gave them a solid start, setting the tone for the chase. Mathews ensured a smooth finish without any hiccups, struck some meaty blows to seal the game in style. Asif Ali launched a few balls out of the park and did exactly what he was expected to do.
Dambulla, on the other hand, were untidy in the field, missing out on run-out chances and giving away a barrage of wides that didn’t help their cause. Dhananjaya was brilliant though, making a staggering 61-run knock, albeit for a losing cause. He then snared Fakhar Zaman with his off-spin. Hayden Kerr bowled an economical spell too with some terrific yorkers and got the wicket of Mendis while Noor kept a lid on the score but remained wicketless. Shahnawaz Dahani was the most expensive of the lot and his bouncers were off the target.
Overall, it was a comprehensive victory for Kandy, and they will be hoping to build on this momentum in their upcoming matches.
