Rain emerged victorious as the Saint Lucia Kings and Guyana Amazon Warriors settled for a point each in the Republic Bank Caribbean Premier League (CPL).

Unfavorable weather conditions persisted throughout the day, hinting that any play would be confined to a shortened match. After winning the toss, Faf Du Plessis chose to bowl first, granting the Kings the opportunity to gauge the prevailing conditions.

The match witnessed persistent interruptions, culminating in its reduction to a five-over shootout.

Despite attempts by Saim Ayub and Chandrapaul Hemraj to accelerate the innings, they encountered challenges with timing on a pitch offering good bounce and carry. Hemraj departed early for 4 runs in the third over, however, his dismissal seemed to ignite the Amazon Warriors’ innings.

Subsequently, Saim Ayub and Azam Khan exploited Chris Sole and Alzarri Joseph, amassing 18 and 19 runs respectively.

The Kings faced further setbacks as they incurred a slow over rate penalty during the final over. Yet, Jair McCallister’s exceptional death over on his CPL debut curtailed the Amazon Warriors to 56 runs in their five overs.

DLS recalibrated the Saint Lucia target to 59, but the match encountered a permanent halt due to the return of rain.

The outcome translated into both teams sharing the honors, propelling Saint Lucia to the pinnacle of the fledgling CPL 2023 table.
