IPL 2025: KKR vs LSG Faces Uncertainty, Likely to be Postponed

The much-anticipated IPL 2025 clash between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at Eden Gardens on April 6 faces uncertainty. The Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) has formally requested the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to reschedule the match, citing security concerns due to the festival of Ram Navami.

With Kolkata police and local authorities expressing their inability to provide adequate security on the festival day, the CAB was left with no choice but to seek a change. “We had extensive discussions with the authorities, but they confirmed that ensuring proper security during the festivities would be challenging, even for a day game. We’ve requested the BCCI to reschedule, and we hope to have clarity soon,” said CAB president Snehasish Ganguly.

IPL 2025: CAB requests under consideration as KKR vs LSG faces uncertainty

While the CAB’s request is under consideration, the BCCI faces a logistical headache. The IPL 2025 schedule is tightly packed, leaving little room for adjustments. A BCCI source revealed that the board is exploring alternatives, including shifting the match to a different venue. “We’ve received the CAB’s request and are in talks with the teams and logistics partners to find a feasible solution,” the source said.

This isn’t the first time a KKR match has been affected by Ram Navami. In IPL 2024, a similar situation arose, leading to a rescheduled game. This year, the stakes are higher, with high ticket demand and LSG owner Sanjiv Goenka’s strong business ties to Kolkata adding complexity to the decision.

As the BCCI weighs its options, fans eagerly await clarity on whether the match will be moved to a new date or relocated to another venue. One thing is certain: the clash between KKR and LSG promises to be a blockbuster, wherever and whenever it takes place.
