The Lahore Qalandars, champions of the Pakistan Super League 2022, are preparing for the eighth editions of the tournament with a six-day training camp in their home city. The camp will be held at the state-of-the-art facilities of the Qalandars High Performance Centre, and will begin on February 4. The whole squad, including captain Shaheen Shah Afridi, will participate in the camp which will conclude on February 9.

Director Cricket Operations of the Lahore Qalandars, Aaqib Javed, stated that the six-day camp will include a couple of intra-squad practice matches and some rigorous net sessions. He said, “We have planned an extensive PSL campaign to defend the title, as such, all our local players are reporting on February 4 in Lahore. A six-day long training session will facilitate players to get themselves reunited and gelled up again.”

The Lahore Qalandars will begin their campaign with a match against the 2021 champions, the Multan Sultans, at the Multan Cricket Stadium on February 13, following a vibrant opening ceremony. In their second match, the Qalandars will face their rivals, the Karachi Kings, at the National Bank Cricket Arena on February 19. In their third round-robin clash, the Qalandars, led by Shaheen Shah Afridi, will take on the Quetta Gladiators at the same venue two days later.

The Qalandars will play five of the 10 matches at their home ground, while the rest of the five will be played at three different venues. The team’s Director Cricket Operations, Aaqib Javed, also mentioned that they are in constant touch with their overseas players to bring them into the camp as soon as possible.

The Lahore Qalandars squad includes international stars such as Rashid Khan, Haris Rauf, and David Wiese, as well as local players like Abdullah Shafique, Harry Brook, Kamran Ghulam, and Fakhar Zaman. The team also includes experienced players like Sikandar Raza, Liam Dawson, and Hussain Talat.

The Pakistan Super League (PSL) is one of the most popular cricket leagues in the world and the tournament is set to be a high-octane affair with many exciting matches. The Lahore Qalandars will be looking to defend their title and retain the trophy for the second consecutive time.
