Cricket fans in the USA are in for a treat as Brosid Sports LLC announced the launch of the inaugural Legends Intercontinental T-20 League. The exciting event, unveiled at a press conference in New Delhi’s Shangri-La Hotel, promises a unique cricketing experience featuring legendary stars from across the globe.
“We are thrilled to launch the Legends Intercontinental T-20 League,” declared Vishal Sharma, the league’s CEO and a former Ranji player. “This spectacular competition will see legendary stars from various continents showcase their skills once again.”
Cricket’s growing popularity in the USA played a major role in the league’s inception. “This is the ideal time to introduce a legend’s league to the American cricket fans,” Sharma elaborated. “The idea is to connect them with these legendary players who mesmerized audiences with their talent and ignited our passion for the game.”
The event boasted the presence of several cricketing legends, including former India wicketkeeper-batsman Parthiv Patel, Australia’s legendary pacer Brett Lee, Sri Lankan batsman TM Dilshan, and England’s spin wizard Graeme Swann. Their enthusiasm for the league was palpable.
“I think the Legends Intercontinental T-20 League is going to be amazing,” Dilshan expressed. “It’s a chance to share memories and rekindle past rivalries, something fans truly enjoy. I’m looking forward to competing in this fantastic cricketing extravaganza.”
Sharing similar sentiments, Brett Lee stated, “This league provides a platform for former players to reconnect and entertain fans who have admired us throughout our careers.” Graeme Swann also confirmed his participation, adding to the star power of the event.
The tournament will unfold from August 16th to 28th, 2024, at Moosa Stadium in Texas. Seven teams – Indo Kings, Asian Avengers, Euro Rangers, American Mavericks, Trans-Tasman Titans, African Lions, and Caribbean Vikings – will battle it out in a single round-robin format. The top four teams will progress to the knockout stages, culminating in the grand finale on August 28th.
The full roster of players participating in the league remains under wraps, but with names like Dilshan, Swann, and rumors of Liam Plunkett’s participation, fans can expect a thrilling display of cricketing prowess.
