The Paarl Royals have completed their squad of 19 players for Season 2 of the SA20, with the signings of Irish wicketkeeper batter Lorcan Tucker and English pacer John Turner at the Auction.
Tucker and Turner were both picked up for their base prices of R175,000 and R425,000, respectively. Tucker is an experienced international player with 59 T20I caps, while Turner is a young and upcoming talent who made his T20 debut earlier this year.
The Royals also made a Rookie draft signing, picking up 17-year-old wicketkeeper batter Lhuan-dre Pretorius. Pretorius has been involved with the South African Under-19 and Emerging teams, and he made his List A debut recently.
The Royals’ squad now consists of a mix of proven experience and young talent. England captain Jos Buttler, South African veterans David Miller, Tabraiz Shamsi, and Lungi Ngidi, along with Jason Roy, Obed McCoy, and Fabian Allen, form a strong core. The Royals also have a number of talented South African players, including Bjorn Fortuin, Andile Phehlukwayo, Wihan Lubbe, Dane Vilas, Mitchell van Buuren, Ferisco Adams, Codi Yusuf, Evan Jones, and Kwena Maphaka.
The Royals will start their SA20 2024 campaign on 12th January 2024 against the Pretoria Capitals at Boland Park.
