Malaysia on top of the table after the second day of the Malaysia Quadrangular T20 Series 2022

Malaysia is hosting Malaysia Quadrangular T20 Series 2022 with Bahrain, Qatar and Singapore participating in the series. The series that started on 15 December 2022 had two games on the second day of the series. The second day 16 December 2022 had matches Qatar vs Malaysia and Bahrain vs Singapore. While the hosts Malaysia took a win over Qatar, Bahrain and Singapore played a tied game.

The first match today was between Qatar and Malaysia where Qatar won the toss and elected to bat first in the game.

Batting first Qatar made 126/9 in 20 overs with Valeed Veetil playing a half-century knock of 53 runs off 44 balls. With Dharmang Patel and Muhammad Tanveer making 17(28) and 15(10) in the game for the team, Malaysia set the target of 127 runs to Qatar.

Rizwan Haider, Fitri Sham, Sharvin Muniandy and Khizar Hayat from Malaysia took 3, 2, 2 and 2 wickets each in the game. Malaysia conceded 14 extras to Qatar while bowling in the game.

Malaysia started the second inning of the game with Zubaidi Zulkifle and Virandeep Singh. Both the openers played their innings making 40 runs each. Zubaidi faced 30 balls and Virandeep faced 32 balls in the game before they got out. Ahmad Faiz and Syed Aziz made 24(14) and 20(12) for the team.

Muhammad Tanveer was the only bowler from Qatar to take wickets in the game. He took 2 wickets in the game which were the opener’s wickets of the opponent. Qatar conceded 3 extras to Malaysia while bowling in the game.

Malaysia won the game by 8 wickets in 14.4 overs as they made 127/2. Rizwan Haider was the player of the match with a bowling figure of 4-0-24-3 in the game.

The second game played today in the series was between Bahrain and Singapore where Bahrain won the toss and elected to bat first.

Bahrain made 144/8 in 20 overs batting first in the game where Prashant Kurup was the highest run scorer for the team with 33 runs off 32 balls. Sohail Ahmed followed him with 32 runs off 24 balls.

Aryaman Sunil, Vinoth Baskaran, Manpreet Singh and Vihaan Hampihallikar took a wicket in the game whereas Janak Prakash took double wickets in the game, from Singapore. Singapore conceded 7 extras to Bahrain while bowling in the game.

Singapore started the second inning of the game with Amarty Kaul and Surendran Chandramohan where Anarty made 56(64) and Surendran was run out at 1(3). Manpreet Singh was the second top run scorer in the game for the team with 29(17) followed by Abdul Rahman Bhadelia 28*(15).

Rizwan Butt, Danish Jasnaik and Imran Khan from Bahrain took 3, 2 and 1 wickets in the game where Singapore made 144/7 in 20 overs to tie the game. Bahrain conceded 7 extras to Singapore in the game.

The game entered super over after being tied. Singapore made 10/1 in the first super over and Bahrain chased the target of 11 runs in the next super over in 5 balls to win the game.

Bahrain added 2 points in the series after the super-over win over Singapore.

Amartya Kaul and Vihaan Hampihallikar from Singapore made their T20I debut today while Vihaan also made his T20 debut too.

Rizwan Butt was the player of the match, he made 1(1) in batting and had a bowling figure of 4-0-19-3 in the match.

Currently, Malaysia is leading the points table with 4 points in total. Qatar and Bahrain are in the second and third position of the table respectively with 2 points each while Singapore is still to find a win in the series and is at the bottom of the table.
