Matt Short Extends Contract, Jordan Buckingham Signs for BBL|15 with Adelaide Strikers

Matt Short Extends Contract

Adelaide Strikers have bolstered their squad for the upcoming BBL|15 season by securing key players Matt Short and Jordan Buckingham. The Strikers’ skipper, Matt Short, has extended his contract for an additional two seasons, committing to the team until the end of BBL|17. Meanwhile, fast bowler Jordan Buckingham has signed on for BBL|15, further strengthening the team’s bowling lineup.

Matt Short’s Commitment to the Strikers

Matt Short’s extension comes as a boost for the Adelaide Strikers. Surpassing 2,000 career BBL runs this season, Short has proven to be a vital component of the team’s batting order. Despite a challenging BBL|14 season marred by injuries, Short showcased his potential with a spectacular century against the Brisbane Heat at the Adelaide Oval.

Expressing his enthusiasm, Short said, “I’m thrilled to extend my stay in Adelaide and play in front of our passionate fans at the Adelaide Oval. Although BBL|14 had its challenges, I’m optimistic about the future and eager to work with the team to bring the trophy back to Adelaide.”

Jordan Buckingham Strengthens the Bowling Attack

Joining Short in committing to the Strikers is fast bowler Jordan Buckingham, who made his debut for the team in BBL|14 after transferring from the Brisbane Heat. Buckingham impressed in the final three matches of the season, delivering crucial performances in the middle overs and during the power surge. His retention ensures a dynamic pace attack for BBL|15.

Contracting Embargo and Player Movement Window

With the Contracting Embargo currently in place, no player movements can occur until the Player Movement Window opens from January 28 to February 6. During this period, clubs can sign uncontracted players from other teams, trade players, or exchange draft positions. The Strikers have already secured nine players for BBL|15, with further signings expected once the embargo lifts.
