In a thrilling encounter at Headingley, Leeds, the Northern Superchargers clinched a comfortable victory against the Southern Brave in the eighth match of The Hundred Men’s Competition. Chasing a target of 147, the Superchargers reached 147/3 in just 85 balls, sealing the win with 15 balls to spare. Nicholas Pooran’s stellar performance earned him the Player of the Match title.

Southern Brave, opting to bat first, managed to post a total of 146/8 in their allotted 100 balls. The innings saw contributions from Alex Davies (28 off 20) and Kieron Pollard (37 off 22), but regular wickets hindered their momentum. Callum Parkinson was the pick of the bowlers for the Superchargers, claiming 2 for 38 in his 20 balls, supported by Adil Rashid and Jordan Clark, who took a wicket each.

In response, the Northern Superchargers had a solid start despite losing Matthew Short (12 off 8) early, bowled by Jofra Archer. Graham Clark (27 off 20) provided a steady foundation before Nicholas Pooran took center stage. Pooran’s explosive 62 off 34 balls, including 4 fours and 5 sixes, was the highlight of the innings. His partnership with captain Harry Brook (34* off 20) ensured that the Superchargers never lost control of the chase.

Pooran’s dismissal at 125/3 brought a brief glimmer of hope for the Brave, but Brook and Adam Hose (3* off 4) comfortably guided their team to victory. The Southern Brave bowlers struggled to contain the Superchargers’ aggressive batting, with Akeal Hosein and Chris Jordan picking up a wicket each but conceding runs at a high rate.
