The USA-based Major League Cricket (MLC 2023) is set to kick off its first edition on July 13, featuring six competing teams. Let’s dive into the captivating world of MLC and discover the esteemed captains leading each side in the highly anticipated 2023 season.

The inaugural MLC season will witness the participation of six teams, injecting an electrifying buzz into American cricket. The competing teams are the Texas Super Kings, Los Angeles Knight Riders, MI New York, San Francisco Unicorns, Seattle Orcas, and Washington Freedom. Notably, four out of these six teams have been acquired by owners of Indian Premier League franchises, namely Texas, Los Angeles, New York, and Seattle.

Commencing on July 13, MLC 2023 will feature each team engaging in five league games, hosted in Dallas and Morrisville. Following the league stage, the top four teams will advance to the playoffs, scheduled for July 27 and 28. The grand finale will be held on July 30 at the esteemed Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas.

All six teams have meticulously assembled their squads for the enthralling T20 league. With a range of options at their disposal, each side was allowed to select a minimum of 16 players and a maximum of 19. Importantly, nine players from the domestic pool of USA cricketers had to be included in each squad, along with one under-23 player from the USA.

Introducing the Captains for MLC 2023: A Stellar Leadership Lineup

MI New York: Kieron Pollard

The experienced former West Indies captain, known for leading the MI Emirates team in the International League T20, will steer the ship for MI New York. Pollard’s leadership will be bolstered by the presence of talented individuals like Rashid Khan, Nicholas Pooran, and Trent Boult.

Texas Super Giants: Faf du Plessis

In a bid to replicate his leadership success, the South African stalwart, currently in charge of the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL, will take command of the Texas Super Giants. Du Plessis previously led the Johannesburg Super Kings in the SA20 earlier this year.

San Francisco Unicorns: Aaron Finch

The former Australian captain, who bid farewell to international cricket earlier this year, will guide the San Francisco Unicorns. Finch’s leadership acumen was evident as he steered Australia to victory in the 2022 T20 World Cup in the UAE.

Washington Freedom: Marcus Stoinis

With his exceptional leadership credentials in the Big Bash League, Stoinis has been entrusted with captaining the Washington Freedom. Stoinis previously led the Sydney Sixers to consecutive titles in 2020 and 2021, showcasing his ability to inspire his team to success.

LA Knight Riders: Sunil Narine

A familiar face within the Knight Riders franchise, Narine will now lead the LA Knight Riders in the MLC division. Having previously captained the Abu Dhabi Knight Riders in the ILT20 earlier this year, Narine brings valuable experience to his new role.

Awaiting the Announcement: Seattle Orcas Captaincy

While the captains of the other five teams have been revealed, the captaincy of the Seattle Orcas remains a mystery. Fans and cricket enthusiasts eagerly anticipate the announcement, building anticipation for the team’s upcoming campaign.
