Mohammad Amir hints at playing IPL 2024

Pakistani fast bowler Mohammad Amir, who retired from international cricket in 2020, continues to make headlines. It has been reported that the 31-year-old cricketer is set to obtain a British passport next year due to his marriage to Narjis Khan, a UK national and practicing lawyer.

In a recent interview with a local media outlet, Amir discussed his future in cricket, including the possibility of participating in the Indian Premier League (IPL) once he acquires his UK passport. Currently residing in Britain with his wife, he expressed his disinterest in playing for England, stating that he would never represent the English team. However, he did express openness to joining the IPL once his passport is obtained in 2024.

Amir emphasized his commitment to Pakistan, stating that he would not play for England as he has previously represented the Pakistani team. Regarding the IPL, he mentioned taking things step by step and acknowledged the uncertainty of what the future holds.

“Firstly, I will not play for England because I have played for Pakistan. And for IPL, I have a year to get my passport. I go step by step and do not know what will happen in a year.”

This interview has sparked a new debate on social media, with people discussing the various possibilities for Amir’s future in cricket. It is worth noting that while Indian cricket leagues have banned Pakistani players, British citizens are eligible to participate in the IPL.

Amidst these developments, cricket fans are eagerly awaiting Amir’s next moves and how his career will unfold in the coming years. The prospect of him potentially participating in the IPL has generated significant interest and speculation among cricket enthusiasts.
