Pakistan’s cricket team faces uncertainty as star bowler Mohammad Amir remains absent from their squad due to visa issues. Amir, who recently made a comeback to international cricket after a four-year hiatus, did not travel with the team to Ireland for their upcoming T20I series. Despite being a UK permanent resident, Amir’s visa for Ireland has not been approved, leaving his participation in the series in limbo.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is actively engaged in resolving the matter, liaising with Cricket Ireland to expedite Amir’s visa process. This delay mirrors a similar situation encountered by Mohammad Yousuf, whose visa was also held up but managed to travel with the team.
With the squad expected to arrive in Dublin imminently, both Amir and the PCB are eagerly awaiting a resolution. Pakistan’s tour of Ireland, slated to commence on May 10 at Clontarf, comprises three T20Is before they head to England for a four-match series.
The Ireland squad, led by Paul Stirling, is geared up to challenge Pakistan, boasting talents like Mark Adair, Andrew Balbirnie, and George Dockrell. Meanwhile, Pakistan, under the captaincy of Babar Azam, is reinforced by the likes of Mohammad Rizwan, Shaheen Afridi, and Shadab Khan.
Following the fixtures in Ireland, Pakistan’s focus will shift to England, where they are scheduled to play four T20Is. The series kicks off on May 22 at Leeds, followed by matches on May 25 at Birmingham, May 28 at Cardiff, and concluding on May 30 at The Oval.
As the cricketing world eagerly anticipates these clashes, all eyes are on Amir’s visa status, hoping for a swift resolution to see the talented bowler in action.
