In a spellbinding display of spin at Providence Stadium, Gudakesh Motie single-handedly turned the tide for Guyana Amazon Warriors in Match 30 of the Caribbean Premier League 2025. Facing the Barbados Royals, Motie grabbed a majestic five-wicket haul, silencing the Royals’ batting line-up and ensuring a dominant position for his team.
Bowling his left-arm orthodox magic, Motie picked up his wickets with guile, flight, and clever variation. His figures — five for (runs conceded) — reflect a masterclass in control under pressure. Georgetown’s pitch, usually favouring power, found itself dancing to Motie’s spin.
Early breakthroughs came as the Royals tried to settle. Motie struck at key moments, removing set batters and breaking the momentum. Each wicket added to the pressure, and soon the Royals were struggling. Tight lines, subtle drift, and an ability to exploit even the smallest of mistakes elevated this spell into something special.
Although the rest of the Warriors’ bowlers supported well, it was Motie who provided the turning point. His performance didn’t just stall the opposition — it set up the platform for the Warriors to dominate the rest of the match.
Reflecting on the performance, Motie said:
