MS Dhoni, the veteran wicketkeeper-batsman, is proving age is just a number in IPL 2024. His explosive batting and sharp work behind the stumps have made him a constant headline.
Facing Lucknow Super Giants, Dhoni’s 9-ball 28 (2 sixes, 3 fours) overshadowed even Ravindra Jadeja’s tournament-high 57 for Chennai. One of his sixes, a mammoth 101-meter blast against Yash Thakur, joined the list of IPL’s biggest hits, leaving fans ecstatic.
This isn’t Dhoni’s only late-innings heroics. Against Mumbai Indians, he smashed three consecutive sixes off Hardik Pandya in the final over, etching his name deeper into IPL folklore. With 87 runs from just 34 balls this season, Dhoni, at 42, is a finisher reborn.
While Dhoni dominates the headlines, the race for the biggest six of IPL 2024 is a tight one. Royal Challengers Bangalore’s Dinesh Karthik leads with a 108-meter blast against Sunrisers Hyderabad. He’s followed by Heinrich Klaasen (SRH) and Venkatesh Iyer & Nicholas Pooran (KKR & LSG) who all sent the ball flying 106 meters against RCB. Ishan Kishan (MI) and Andre Russell (KKR) complete the list with 103m and 102m sixes against SRH, respectively.
