Netherlands Women are currently touring Thailand and a T20I series is currently running between the Netherlands Women and Thailand Women.
The tour consists of 4-match ODI series followed by a 4-match T20I series. Thailand Women had cleanly swept the Netherlands Women in the ODI series 4-0. The T20I series which is running currently started yesterday.
The Thailand team continued their dominance in the tour with a win in the T20I series opening match (Match Report). But, the Netherlands Women have found a breakthrough in the dominance of the hosts over them in this tour.
The Netherlands Women have booked their first-ever win in the tour with a 5-wicket win over Thailand Women in the second match of the running T20I series. With this win, they also level the series 1-1.
Winning the toss in the game, Thailand Women had elected to bat first. Batting first, they managed to make 113 runs in 20 overs with the loss of 5 wickets. Naruemol Chaiwai, the captain of the Thailand Women’s team, was the only batter to score 30+ in the inning. She made 40 not-out runs off 44 balls.
The Netherlands Women utilized five bowlers in the game out of which Eva Lynch took the maximum wickets for the team with 3 wickets in her name. Iris Zwiling and Silver Siegers took a wicket each in the game. Caroline de Lange and Hannah Landheer went empty hand in the game, in terms of wickets. The Netherlands Women conceded 12 extras to Thailand Women while bowling.
Coming to bat second in the game to chase the target of 114 runs, the Netherlands Women made 116 runs in 20 overs to win the game. The Netherlands Women started their batting inning with Babette de Leede and Heather Siegers. Babette made 2 runs off 3 balls in the game. Captain of the Netherlands Women’s team, Heather, made 28 runs off 26 balls. Sterre Kalis played a very good knock of 56 runs off 56 balls in the game which helped the team massively in the game to win it.
Thailand Women utilized seven bowlers in the game out of which Thipatcha Putthawong took the maximum wickets for the team with 2 wickets in her name. While Nattaya Boochatham and Onnicha Kamchomphu took a wicket each in the game, the other bowlers from the team went empty hand in terms of wickets. Thailand Women conceded 6 extras to the Netherlands Women in the game.
The Netherlands Women have levelled the 4-match T20I series 1-1 after the win over Thailand Women. Sterre Kalis remained the Player Of The Match for her brilliant 56(56) batting knock in the game.
The third and the fourth matches of the T20I series will be played on 2 and 3 December of 2022 respectively.
