Opening batter Tom Rogers has put pen to paper on a new two-year deal with the Melbourne Stars that will keep him at the club until at least the end of BBL|14.
Rogers burst onto the scene as a replacement player during the Stars covid-affected season in BBL|12, playing every game and scoring 324 runs, including a match-winning innings of 51* against the Strikers at the MCG.
The left-hander was rewarded with his first Victorian contract, and Stars General Manager Blair Crouch is excited to see what he can do at the top of the order in the next two seasons.
“Tom’s perseverance and subsequent rise is one of the best stories in the BBL, from being a last minute covid replacement to now being rewarded with his first contract for the Stars,” Crouch said.
“We’re excited to see what he can do at the top of the order, he’s made a very solid white ball start for Victoria this summer and we look forward to seeing it continue at the MCG.”
