Pakistan Fast bowler Shaheen Afridi became the leading wicket-taker in Test matches this year on Sunday. Afridi currently has 44 Test wickets this year from only eight Test matches in 2021. Afridi is playing his 20th Test match has an admirable record in Test cricket. 21 year old has bagged 86 wickets in 20 matches for Pakistan so far.
He finished the innings with 5/15 and provided his team with an opportunity to win the game. He was thrilled over the achievement and spoke about hunting batters with his bowling partner Hasan Ali.
“I am happy over the achievement. I always tried to help Pakistan record wins. I enjoy bowling with the new ball. We [Shaheen and Hasan] back each other and try to get wickets while bowling in tandem. Even in the second innings, we kept the pressure from both ends,” he said.
The fierce pacer said that the Pakistani bowlers will do their best in order to ensure that Bangladesh is dismissed for a low score.
“We hope to take early wickets Monday morning and restrict the hosts to a low total in the second innings on a track where batting is not all that easy,” he said.
Shaheen also talked about the pitch conditions he added that the ball has already started turning. “Spinners are getting help from the wicket which is keeping low also.”
For Pakistan, Shaheen Shah Afridi (5/32), Sajid Khan (3/32), and Hasan Ali (2/52) bagged the wickets.
Pakistan needs 202 runs to win the first Test match against Bangladesh.
