The Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Management Committee, Najam Sethi, has recently visited the UAE and assured the Vice-Chairman of the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) Khalid Al Zarooni that Pakistani players will be a part of the UAE’s International League T20 next season. This statement was made during Sethi’s visit for the league’s opening ceremony on January 13th.
It is worth noting that no Pakistani player is part of the inaugural season of the event, which is currently being played in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Sharjah. The previous PCB management had reportedly asked for three million dollars from ECB in order to release their players for the league, which did not sit well with the officials of the ILT20. However, Sethi was able to mend the relationship between the two boards, and they both agreed to work together for the betterment of the sport in the future.
This is a positive development for Pakistani cricket, as it will give their players the opportunity to showcase their talents in the UAE’s International League T20, and it will also allow for the growth of cricket in the region. The ECB’s support in holding matches in the UAE, if needed, will also be beneficial for the PCB.
It’s also important to note that five out of six IPL franchises are co-owned by Indian entities, and with the politics of the relation between India and Pakistan, they tend not to play Pakistani players. This is one of the reasons why Pakistani players have not played in IPL before, and the UAE’s International League T20 is a great opportunity for them to showcase their talents and play along with some of the best players in the world.
Overall, this is a positive step forward in the relationship between the PCB and ECB, and it will provide opportunities for the growth and development of cricket in the region. Pakistani players will have the chance to showcase their talents in the UAE’s International League T20, and the ECB’s support in holding matches in the UAE, if needed, will also be beneficial for the PCB.
