The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has faced delays in granting No Objection Certificates (NOCs) to national cricketers participating in the inaugural edition of the Zim Afro T10 tournament. The absence of a chairman and CEO within the PCB has been identified as the primary cause for the delay, as the authority to grant NOCs has yet to be assigned.
Sources indicate that Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) has reached out to Zaka Ashraf, the recently appointed Chairman of the PCB Management Committee, seeking his intervention in expediting the issuance of NOCs for eight Pakistani players. ZC has expressed their concerns regarding the delay and hopes for a swift resolution.
Responding to the matter, PCB sources have stated that they will soon unveil their NOC policy specifically for the inaugural edition of the Zim Afro T10 tournament. This policy is expected to outline the PCB’s stance on the participation of national cricketers in foreign leagues and provide clarity on the NOC granting process.
Prominent Pakistani cricketers such as Mohammad Hafeez, Mohammad Amir, Shahnawaz Dhani, and Asif Ali have already confirmed their presence in the tournament, adding to its excitement and appeal. The Zim Afro T10 tournament will witness five teams battling it out for the title, including the Durban Qalandars, Cape Town Samp Army, Bulawayo Braves, Harare Hurricanes, and Joburg Buffaloes.
All matches of the tournament will be held at the Harare Sports Club Ground, with the event scheduled to commence on July 20 and culminate in a grand final on July 29.
As cricket enthusiasts eagerly await the participation of Pakistani cricketers in the Zim Afro T10 tournament, the PCB is working towards resolving the NOC issuance matter promptly. The introduction of the NOC policy specifically for this tournament will bring clarity and streamline the process for granting NOCs to players in the future.
With the involvement of notable players and the fervor surrounding the tournament, cricket fans anticipate thrilling matches and spirited performances throughout the Zim Afro T10 tournament.
