The Champions Trophy encounter between Pakistan and Bangladesh in Rawalpindi was abandoned without a ball bowled, marking the second consecutive washout at the venue. Continuous rainfall throughout the afternoon ensured that the covers never came off, and with no improvement in conditions, officials called off the match at 3:27 PM local time—just under ninety minutes after the scheduled start.
This result meant both teams shared a point each, bringing their disappointing campaigns to an end. Pakistan, with a net run rate of -1.087, finished at the bottom of Group A, while Bangladesh (-0.443) placed marginally higher.
The Rawalpindi leg of the tournament has been marred by inclement weather, with the Australia-South Africa game earlier in the week also suffering the same fate. The only completed fixture at the venue saw New Zealand claim a five-wicket victory over Bangladesh on February 24.
With this match scrapped, all eyes now turn to the final Group A clash between India and New Zealand in Dubai on March 2. Both teams have already secured semi-final berths, but the outcome of their contest will decide the group winner.
As for Pakistan and Bangladesh, they now shift focus to upcoming assignments. Pakistan will embark on a white-ball series in New Zealand, featuring five T20Is and three ODIs, while Bangladesh are set to host Zimbabwe for a limited-overs series.
