Cricket South Africa (CSA) has announced a 15-member Proteas Women’s squad for their upcoming tour to Pakistan. The tour will feature three T20Is and three ODIs, all of which will be played in Karachi from September 1 to 14.
The squad includes 12 of the players who helped South Africa reach the final of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in March. Tumi Sekhukhune, who was part of the non-traveling reserves for the World Cup, has also been included.
All-rounder Chloé Tryon and promising batter Annerie Dercksen will miss the tour due to a leave of absence and a fractured finger, respectively.
Suné Luus, who led South Africa to the World Cup final, will step down as captain after the tour. CSA is yet to announce her successor.
Proteas Women head coach Hilton Moreeng and his support staff have received contract extensions through to December. They will oversee the tour to Pakistan, the inbound tour against New Zealand, and the pending home Bangladesh tour.
Debutante Mieke de Ridder is the star of the show. The wicket-keeper batter from Six Gun Grill Garden Route Badgers has been rewarded for her exceptional domestic performances.
All-rounder Nondumiso Shangase, who captained and excelled for the Hollywoodbets Dolphins in the previous season, has also been recalled to the squad.
