What will be the biggest advantage of holding PSL 2025 along with IPL 2025 for the Pakistan Cricket Board? Despite the fact that many negative scenarios have been assumed affecting PSL’s viewership and player availability, here is one of the advantages:

In the world of cricket, the clash between the Pakistan Super League (PSL 2025) and the Indian Premier League (IPL 2025) is not just a matter of scheduling; it’s a collision of challenges and opportunities. As the PSL gears up for its milestone tenth season, the timing of the tournament presents a unique scenario. With the IPL running concurrently, the PSL finds itself in a position to capitalize on unpicked IPL players, potentially strengthening its teams.

Positive responses have been pouring in regarding IPL bench players joining the PSL ranks. A source from The News highlighted the advantage for the PSL, stating, “Those players who will go unpicked by the IPL franchises will be fully available for the PSL teams… They will prefer to play in the PSL instead of sitting on the bench in the IPL.”

Efforts are underway to attract these bench players to the PSL, given the fierce competition within the IPL. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has proposed April 7 to May 20 as the window for PSL 10, avoiding clashes with the ICC Champions Trophy. Discussions are ongoing between the PCB and franchises to finalize the schedule.

In terms of venues, Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium is set to host a maximum of ten matches, followed by Pindi with eight, and Karachi and Multan with five each. Additionally, plans are in place to hold four matches at neutral venues.

The anticipation for PSL 10 is amplified by the inclusion of major overseas players like Steve Smith and Joe Root, among others, in the draft. However, franchises remain in the dark regarding the finalized window or player selection.

In a bid to boost cricket in the region, discussions have begun regarding the construction of the Arbab Niaz Stadium in Peshawar, with Javed Afridi, owner of Peshawar Zalmi, meeting with the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The aim is to host Peshawar Zalmi’s games in Peshawar, a move supported by the PCB chairman.

With expectations running high for thrilling cricket events and the presence of international stars on KP soil, the stage is set for an exciting lead-up to PSL 10. As the clash with IPL looms, the PSL is poised to navigate challenges while seizing the opportunities presented.
