Former cricketer Shahid Khan Afridi has made a strong recommendation for the expansion of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) to Muzaffarabad and Azad Jammu and Kashmir. Afridi, who is appearing as a special guest from Peshawar Zalmi in PSL 8, stated that this is a huge day for the people of Quetta.
“I’m thrilled to be back here in Quetta, playing cricket and seeing the happiness on the faces of the local community,” Afridi said. He also praised the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), the Balochistan government, and security forces for their efforts in making the PSL a success.
“The PSL is a valuable brand for Pakistan, and it should be extended to all cities. After Quetta, the next step should be to bring it to Muzaffarabad and Azad Jammu and Kashmir,” he stated.
When asked about the local talent in Quetta, Afridi emphasized the importance of providing opportunities for these young players. “There’s so much talent in this city, not just in cricket, but also in boxing and football. We need to support these young individuals and give them a chance to showcase their abilities,” he said.
Afridi is known for his humanitarian work in Quetta and has been working with his foundation to help the local community. He hopes to continue his efforts in highlighting the city and its people.
The star all-rounder’s last international match in Quetta was in 1996, where he made his ODI debut and scored 28 runs, taking a wicket in the process. As one of the star players in the exhibition match, Afridi is sure to make a lasting impact on the community.
