Sohail Tanveer set the tone by taking four important wickets for the Quetta Gladiators followed by some outstanding innings by the Umar Akmal and Shane Watson.
Sohail Tanveer picked up two wickets in the first over of Islamabad United, followed by more wickets in the coming overs. Islamabad United was in deep trouble, but soon Parnell 41 and Asif 36 innings rescued them and stretched their score to 157.
In reply, it was almost no chance for the Islamabad United bowlers to stop Watson and Umer Akmal, who are in the best of times of their lives. Both played scintillating strokes across the all corners of the ground. Watson continued after the dismissal of Umar Akmal and finished the team’s job in 19 overs.
Shane Watson was awarded as a player of match award for his 81 runs unbeaten innings.
