Ruben Trumplemann becomes the first player to take two wickets in first two balls in T20I history

Ruben Trumplemann becomes the first player to take two wickets in first two balls in T20I history. In the match between Namibia and Oman in the 2024 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, Ruben Trumplemann took two wickets in first two deliveries to become the only player in the history of T20I to take two wickets in first two balls.

He is also the only player to take three wickets in first four deliveries. He had this record against Scotland in 2021. The record was made by the same player in two World Cups.

In the same match, David Weise played crucial knocks for Namibia to take his team home. He batted in super over, bowled in super over, batted in 20th over, bowled in 20th over. In the low scoring thriller between Namibia and Oman, David Weise became the key player for Namibia. He took three wickets from 3.4 overs while bowling in the match. He also made 9 runs off 8 balls while batting in the match. He scored 13 runs off 4 balls in the super over. David Weise came to defend 21 runs in the super over where he took one wicket conceding one wicket.

David Weise was the player of the match for his 3/28.

David Wiese, the Player of the Match:

“Aged a couple of years tonight. Don’t have a lot of years left in me (laughs). Emotionally draining evening. (Batting and bowling in Super over) It helped that I had a feel of the game and knew if I get a few hits out in the Super Over …. then with the ball, felt like taking the ball and executing. Pitch was difficult, didn’t play the way we thought. But we adapted well. It was two-paced, it was a difficult wicket to get yourself in. Definitely one you needed to spend a bit of time before capitalising. (Target) Difficult to gauge a good target because if you’re chasing 180 then you’re playing differently. But when you let them bowl the way they did, you bring them back into the game. Lots of learnings from this game.”

Scorecard:

Oman: 109 (19.4 ov)

Namibia: 109/6 (20 ov)

Namibia: 21/0 in Super Over

Oman: 10/1 in Super Over
