Rwanda U19 Women defeated West Indies U19 Women in the Super Six match of the ICC Women’s U19 World Cup and showed their potential once again for international cricket. Previously they had upset Zimbabwe in a group match. Rwanda U19 Women took a 4-wicket victory over West Indies while chasing a low target of 71 runs and creating history in world cricket. This is the first time Rwanda U19 Women defeated West Indies U19 Women in a World Cup.
In the match played today between Rwanda U19 Women and West Indies U19 Women, West Indies U19 Women won the toss and elected to bat first.
Batting first, West Indies U19 Women could add only 70 runs on the board before they got summed up in 16.3 overs after being chopped by Sylvia Usabyimana and Marie Tumukunde’s 4-wicket-haul each. Zurufat Ishimwe took the rest two wickets for Rwanda U19 Women to help restrict West Indies U19 Women to just 70 runs. Realeanna Grimmond was the only batter to score in double digits for West Indies U19 Women with 18 runs off 21 balls.
While chasing the target of 71 runs, Rwanda U19 Women made 71 runs at the loss of 6 wickets in 18.2 overs and registered the win over the West Indies U19 Women. Gisele Ishimwe was the top most run scorer for Rwanda U19 Women with 31 runs off 53 balls.
Jannillea Glasgow, Jahzara Claxton, Ashmini Munisar and Zaida James took a wicket each for West Indies U19 Women in the game.
