Guyana Amazon Warriors have officially confirmed the signing of Pakistani rising star Saim Ayub for the upcoming ExxonMobil Guyana Global Super League (GSL) 2025, marking a major boost for their campaign. The tournament is set to take place from July 8 to July 18, with all 11 matches — including the grand final — to be hosted at the Guyana National Stadium in Providence.

Ayub’s inclusion is seen as a strong statement of intent by the Warriors, who will be aiming to dethrone defending champions Rangpur Riders and lift the prestigious GSL trophy in front of their home crowd. This will be the franchise’s debut appearance in the newly launched international T20 showcase, which brings together five elite teams from around the world in a high-stakes, short-format competition.
The news also marks a triumphant return for Saim Ayub, who had been sidelined for months following a nasty ankle injury earlier this year in Cape Town. The left-handed batter twisted his ankle in a fielding mishap, leading to a ten-week recovery period that ruled him out of Pakistan’s entire Test series and the Champions Trophy 2025. His participation in PSL 2025 had also been in doubt, but he made a successful return with Peshawar Zalmi, showing promising form post-rehabilitation.

Ayub’s explosive batting style, particularly in the powerplay, could be a game-changer for the Warriors in the GSL’s round-robin format, where each team faces the others once. The top two teams will proceed to the final, making every match critical.
