The Board of Control for Cricket in India has come out with the schedule for the home series India Women will play against West Indies and Ireland. The two white-ball series will keep the team busy through the months of December and January-the all-important phase in their ICC Women’s Championship campaign.
Fixtures announced for India Women’s home series against the West Indies and Ireland include three T20Is and three ODIs against the Caribbean side. The action gets underway on 15 December as the T20I series takes place in Navi Mumbai, while ODIs from 22 to 27 December will be held in Baroda. These ODI matches are crucial as they contribute to the Women’s Championship standings.
The Indian team, after its campaign against West Indies, will lock horns with Ireland for an ODI series comprising three games. All games for the Ireland series will be played in Rajkot from January 10. The matches are also part of the Women’s Championship; and therefore add immense importance to the series.
Many big names of India like Smriti Mandhana and Harmanpreet Kaur will have much to say in the outcome of the matches. Fans will look forward to the return of Mandhana who sparkled in the earlier edition of Women’s T20 World Cup this year.
Playing the series against West Indies and Ireland will be a test bench for India and really valuable experience for emerging players.
