In a thrilling encounter in the 20th match of the Pakistan Super League (PSL 2024) held on Sunday, Shadab Khan emerged as the star of the show as Islamabad United secured a 29-run victory over Peshawar Zalmi at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium. The match witnessed a historic milestone as Shadab Khan, the talented all-rounder, reached a remarkable feat of 300 T20 wickets.
Khan had entered the game with 298 wickets to his name and during his spell, he scalped three crucial wickets to achieve the milestone in his 262nd T20 innings. With this achievement, Shadab becomes the 6th Pakistani cricketer and the 25th bowler overall to achieve the remarkable feat of 300 wickets in T20 cricket.
Batting first, Islamabad United posted a challenging total of 196/4, largely propelled by Shadab Khan’s blistering knock of 80 runs off 51 deliveries and Salman Ali Agha’s contribution of 37 runs off 25 balls. In response, despite Aamer Jamal’s valiant effort of 87 runs off 49 balls for Peshawar Zalmi, the team fell short as they could only manage 167 runs, losing nine wickets in the process.
The Islamabad bowlers put up a commendable performance with Shadab Khan leading the charge, taking 3 wickets for 41 runs in his four overs, supported by Hunain Shah and Rumman Raees who picked up two wickets each.
With this win, Islamabad United maintain their fourth position in the points table with two wins out of six games, while Peshawar Zalmi remain unchanged at the third position with three wins of six games.
