The Dubai Capitals have pulled off a major coup ahead of the Global Super League 2025 by signing legendary Bangladeshi all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan. He replaces Keshav Maharaj in the squad for the highly anticipated T20 tournament to be held in Guyana from July 10–18.
Shakib, one of the most decorated cricketers in world cricket, brings a wealth of experience and all-round capabilities to the Capitals setup. His addition significantly enhances the UAE-based franchise’s balance, offering depth in both spin bowling and the middle order — crucial assets in the Caribbean conditions.
Qais Ahmed Joins Dubai Capitals for Global Super League 2025
In another change, Qais Ahmad, the Afghan leg-spinner known for his variations and control, will replace Ibrahim Masood. The move indicates the Capitals’ strategic focus on strengthening their spin options, a wise approach given the slow nature of the pitches expected at the Guyana National Stadium in Providence.
The Global Super League (GSL) is rapidly gaining prestige as an elite T20 event that features top-tier domestic franchises from across the cricketing world. The 2025 edition will see five powerhouse teams:

- Guyana Amazon Warriors (West Indies)

Over 11 high-octane matches, these teams will battle for supremacy in front of passionate fans and global audiences. The tournament aims not only to entertain but also to spotlight Guyana as a rising hub for world-class cricket.
