Sri Lanka Women pulled off a stunning upset, defeating England Women by 8 wickets in the second T20I to level the series 1-1.
After winning the toss, Sri Lanka skipper Chamari Athapaththu asked England to bat first. The hosts got off to a poor start, losing Danni Wyatt in the first over. Sri Lanka’s bowlers then kept up the pressure, picking up wickets at regular intervals.
Udeshika Prabodhani, Inoshi Priyadarshani, Kavisha Dilhari, and Inoka Ranaweera all took two wickets each.
England eventually were bowled out for just 104 runs.
Chamari Athapaththu then led Sri Lanka’s chase, scoring 55 runs off 31 balls. She was well supported by Harshitha, who made 30 runs. Sri Lanka reached the target in just 14 overs with eight wickets in hand.
The third and final T20I will be played on September 6th.
