Afghanistan announced its 17-member squad for Asia Cup 2022 on Tuesday, August 16. The seventh edition of theT20 World Cup 2021 is all set to commence on October 17.
All-rounder Mohammad Nabi will lead the Afghanistan team. From the 16-member squad in the ongoing tour of Ireland, only one change is made. Samiuallah Shinwari has replaced Sharafuddin Ashraf, who is now a part of the reserves. Spinner Noor Ahmed is also added to the side.
The 34-year-old all-rounder, Samiullah Shinwari has represented Afghanistan in 64 T20Is since his debut in 2010. Note that, he has not played an international match since his last one against Ireland in March 2020.

Afghanistan is currently in Ireland playing a 5 match T20 series. They lost the first two games but since they have won two back-to-back games. Currently, Afghanistan is at the 7th spot in the ICC T20 International rankings.
Afghanistan is in Group B and will open its Asia Cup campaign on August 27 against Sri Lanka in Dubai.
