T20 Blast 2023: Update on Hasan Ali’s injury

During the ongoing Twenty20 Blast tournament in Birmingham, Pakistani fast bowler Hasan Ali sustained an injury moments before the opening match between the Birmingham Bears and Yorkshire Vikings. The nature of the injury remains undisclosed, but witnesses reported that Hasan Ali received prompt assistance from the Birmingham Bears staff before being carried off the ground. Despite his absence, the Birmingham Bears secured a 34-run victory.

The tournament features esteemed Pakistani cricketers such as Shaheen Afridi, Shan Masood, Shadab Khan, Zafar Gohar, Usama Mir, Haider Ali, and Zaman Khan, alongside other talented players. The nine-week competition promises an exciting display of cricketing talent.

Hasan Ali recently joined Warwickshire County Cricket Club (CCC) for the current season, having previously played for Peshawar Zalmi in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) and Islamabad United more recently. He was honored as the player of the tournament in the ICC Champions Trophy 2017, highlighting his exceptional skills.

The 21st edition of the T20 Blast tournament, now known as the Vitality Blast, began on May 20 at Birmingham’s Edgbaston stadium with a thrilling double-header. The tournament, initially called the Twenty20 Cup, was the first-ever T20 league and is governed by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB).

The tournament follows the same format as the previous year, with the 18 county sides divided into North and South Groups. The North Group consists of Birmingham Bears, Derbyshire Falcons, Durham, Lancashire Lightning, Leicestershire Foxes, Northamptonshire Steelbacks, Notts Outlaws, Worcestershire Rapids, and Yorkshire Vikings. The South Group comprises Essex Eagles, Glamorgan, Gloucestershire, Hampshire Hawks, Kent Spitfires, Middlesex, Somerset, Surrey, and Sussex Sharks.
