New Zealand won the toss and skipper Kane Williamson elected to bowl first. Moeen Ali’s scored his first-ever World Cup fifty over just 37 balls. Some useful contributions from Dawid Malan (42), and Jos Buttler (29) helped England to post a total of 166/4 against New Zealand. Tim Southee (1/24), Adam Milne (1/31), Ish Sodhi (1/32), and James Neesham (1/18) were the wicket-takers for the Kiwis.
While chasing down 167 to win against England, Daryl Mitchell won the hearts of billions with a sensational unbeaten 72 off 47 balls. Devon Conway scored 46 runs over 38 balls.
