The arch-rivals will face off each other today in a T20 World Cup blockbuster in Dubai. Millions of fans will be glued to their TV screens. However, this will be the first time Pakistan and India will play against each other since 50-over World Cup 2019. The tickets sold out just one hour after the sale started.
The rivals have only played in events like World Cups and the Champions Trophy. As strained relations have halted bilateral cricket since 2007.
Babar Hopeful To Break The Losing Streak Against India:
India have beaten Pakistan in all of their 12 matches at the T20 and 50-over World Cups. Pakistani team will look to end their losing streak, when the two rivals begin their title race.
Babar Azam in a conference on Saturday:
“To be honest, what has passed is beyond us.”
“The matches between Pakistan and India are always full of intensity. So we need to perform well in all three departments of the game,” said the Captain.
Babar played down his team’s poor record against India which sees no win so distant within the T20 World Cup. Both groups have played five matches, with India winning them all. He said:
“Records are meant to be broken.”
He was hoping that beating India would give him the necessary boost to perform better in the upcoming games.
“We are eying for a win on Sunday to set the tone for a better and more solid base to the team’s chances for [the] matches to come.”
PAKISTAN’S XI:
Babar Azam (Captain), Mohammad Rizwan, Fakhar Zaman, Mohammad Hafeez, Shoaib Malik, Asif Ali, Shahdab Khan, Imad Wasim, Hasan Ali, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Haris Rauf and Haider Ali.
The match will start today (Sunday) at 7:00pm (PST).
