T20 World Cup: South Africa Announced Squad For The Upcoming WorldCup

Cricket South Africa (CSA) on 6th September (Tues) announced the Proteas’ squad for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022. The ICC T20 World Cup will take place in Australia next month. The event will begin on 16th October with the opening match between Namibia and Sri Lanka.

Rassie van der Dussen is omitted from the squad as he broke his left index finger while fielding during the second Test against England. The 33-year-old is expected to undergo surgery and will be out of action for at least six weeks.

The good news for South African fans is that Temba Bavuma will lead South Africa at the men’s T20 World Cup as he has recovered from the elbow injury that kept him out since the T20I tour of India in June. Rilee Rossow, who made his return to the South Africa T20I setup after a gap of six years in July, was also able to find a spot in the squad. The same 15-member squad will be traveling to India for the three-match T20I series later this month.

South Africa’s Squad For ICC T20 WorldCup 2022:

Temba Bavuma (captain), Quinton de Kock, Heinrich Klaasen, Reeza Hendricks, Keshav Maharaj, Aiden Markram, David Miller, Lungi Ngidi, Anrich Nortje, Wayne Parnell, Dwaine Pretorius, Kagiso Rabada, Rillee Rossouw, Tabraiz Shamsi, Tristan Stubbs.

Reserves: Bjorn Fortuin, Marco Jansen and Andile Phehlukwayo.
