Bangladesh’s fast bowler, Taskin Ahmed, has turned down an offer to play in the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) for Multan Sultans until February 26. Instead, he wants to focus on his national duty and be fully fit for the upcoming white-ball series against England.
Ahmed recently recovered from a hamstring injury and aims to prioritize his fitness for the crucial series against England. The right-arm pacer believes that it would have been unprofessional to accept the PSL offer for only a few games and then potentially miss out on the international series.
“It’s a very important series. It would have looked bad if I missed any of the matches [against England] after accepting a PSL offer for just a few games. As I just recovered from an injury, it is important to be fully fit. So, I do not have any regrets,” said Taskin Ahmed during his interview at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur on Saturday.
Taskin Ahmed had also missed out on the latter stages of the recently concluded Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) due to an injury he sustained during the tournament. However, he is optimistic about his fitness and performance for the upcoming series against England.
The decision made by Taskin Ahmed to prioritize national duty over a lucrative PSL offer demonstrates his commitment to representing his country at the highest level.
