The highly anticipated Pakistan Super League (PSL 2023) is currently underway, with teams striving for the prestigious title. The league stage is almost complete, with the final match-up currently being contested between bitter rivals, Karachi Kings and Lahore Qalandars. Once this match concludes, the league will progress towards the playoffs, including Qualifier 1, Eliminator 1, and Eliminator 2.
The playoffs will feature the top four teams of the league. The teams that will participate in Qualifier 1 and Eliminator 1 will be determined based on table rankings. At present, Lahore Qalandars and Multan Sultans are the top two ranked teams, and they will face off against each other in the first playoff, Qualifier 1. The winner of this match will directly qualify for the final, while the loser will have another chance, as they will proceed to Eliminator 2.
The third and fourth-ranked teams, Islamabad United and Peshawar Zalmi, will compete against each other in Eliminator 1. The losing team will be eliminated from the tournament, whereas the winner will have to prove their skills once again, as they will progress to Eliminator 2, where they will meet the loser of Qualifier 1. The winner of Eliminator 2 will advance to the final to face the winner of Qualifier 1.
It is worth noting that the Karachi Kings versus Lahore Qalandars match result will not have an impact on who will play in Eliminator 1 and Qualifier 1. Lahore Qalandars, with the highest number of wins (7), are currently placed at the top of the points table. Multan Sultans are next in line with 6 wins. Even if Lahore Qalandars win or lose against Karachi, they will stay in their place with most number of wins.
This implies that the third and fourth-ranked teams, following the Karachi Kings versus Lahore Qalandars encounter, will remain in their positions and will still compete in Eliminator 1. The last PSL 2023 league stage match will have no affect on positions of already qualified teams.
It is worth emphasizing that Karachi Kings are at the bottom of the points table and have already been eliminated from the tournament, along with Quetta Gladiators.
The playoffs are always a thrilling time for fans, and the teams will need to bring their A-game to make it to the finals. Lahore Qalandars and Multan Sultans have performed exceptionally well throughout the tournament, and it will be fascinating to see who emerges victorious in Qualifier 1.
Meanwhile, Islamabad United and Peshawar Zalmi will battle it out in Eliminator 1. Both teams will be under immense pressure to perform well and secure a spot in Eliminator 2.
