Seifert’s Record-Breaking Hundred Powers Kings to Stunning Win

Tim Seifert fastest CPL century

The Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2025 produced one of its most electrifying nights as Tim Seifert unleashed a record-equalling century to guide the St Lucia Kings to a thrilling six-wicket victory over the Antigua & Barbuda Falcons in Gros Islet.

Seifert’s breathtaking 125 off 53 balls* matched Andre Russell’s record for the fastest hundred in CPL history, propelling the Kings to a successful chase of 205 with 13 balls to spare.

Falcons Build a Towering Total

Put in to bat, the Falcons showcased their firepower with a commanding 204/4. Opener Amir Jangoo anchored the innings with a composed 56 off 43, setting a platform for the heavy hitters.

The real fireworks came from the middle order:

  • Shakib Al Hasan blazed 61 off 26, mixing finesse with brute power.
  • Fabian Allen added a late flourish with 38 off 17, striking at over 220.

At 158/3 in the 16th over, the Falcons looked primed for an even bigger score, but disciplined spells from Tabraiz Shamsi (3/30) and Delano Potgieter (1/20) kept the total just within range.

Seifert Turns the Game on Its Head

What followed was nothing short of spectacular. Seifert’s knock was a masterclass in controlled aggression. He peppered the Darren Sammy Cricket Ground with 10 fours and 9 towering sixes, maintaining a strike rate of nearly 236.

His fifty came off just 25 deliveries, and by the time he reached three figures, the Kings had completely flipped the script.

Even when Jayden Seales bowled a wicket maiden in the 16th over, dismissing Tim David (23 off 16) and stalling momentum briefly, Seifert remained unfazed. His composure ensured there was no late twist in the contest.

Finishing in Style

With drizzle beginning to fall, the Kings needed 15 runs off the final 18 balls. Seifert calmly pierced the field with a boundary before launching his ninth six high over midwicket to seal a famous win.

The packed Gros Islet crowd erupted as the Kiwi raised his bat — a moment that will be etched into CPL folklore.

What It Means

The Kings’ victory lifted them to second place on the CPL 2025 table, level on points with the Trinbago Knight Riders but having played one game more.

For the Falcons, it was another reminder of how fragile defending a big total can be in T20 cricket. Despite Shakib and Allen’s brilliance, they had no answers to Seifert’s onslaught.
