In a rain-shortened encounter at Coimbatore, the Chepauk Super Gillies secured a convincing 9-wicket victory over the Dindigul Dragons in the 13th match of the Tamil Nadu Premier League 2024. The match, reduced to 7 overs per side, saw Chepauk chasing down a modest target of 65 with 13 balls to spare.
Opting to bat first, the Dindigul Dragons had a nightmarish start, losing their top order in quick succession. Shivam Singh fell on the very first ball to Abhishek Tanwar, setting the tone for a difficult innings. The Dragons found themselves reeling at 1-3, with Boopathi Kumar and Baba Indrajith dismissed for ducks.
Captain Ravichandran Ashwin was the lone warrior for Dindigul, playing a captain’s knock of 45* off 20 balls, including 3 fours and 4 sixes. His aggressive approach helped the team reach a somewhat respectable total of 64/6 in 7 overs. Vimal Khumar contributed with a brief cameo of 12 off 7 balls.
