The Kenya Quadrangular Women’s T20 Series consists of the hosts Kenya, Uganda, Qatar and Tanzania. The tournament started yesterday 13 December 2022 and will run till 21 December 2022.
As the second day of the tournament has been completed with two matches being played, Uganda Women and Tanzania Women were able to take a win over Qatar Women each in today’s games.
While Uganda Women defeated Qatar Women by 7 wickets in the first game of today, Tanzania Women defeated Qatar Women by 77 runs in the second game being played today in the tournament.
The first match was between Qatar Women and Uganda Women where Uganda Women won the toss and elected to field first in the game. While none of the batters from Qatar Women could make runs in double-digits, the whole team of the Qatar Women made 54 runs playing 19.4 overs and losing all wickets. Irene Alumo, Sarah Akiteng, Concy Aweko and Janet Mbabazi took 3, 2, 2 and 1 wickets respectively from the Uganda Women’s side.
Opening with Kevin Awino and Prosscovia Alako, Uganda Women were able to score 55 runs at the loss of 3 wickets in 10.3 overs to win the game by 7 wickets. While Kevin Awino made a not-out 21(20), Janet Mbabazi was the top run scorer for the team with her inning of 23(29). Rochelle Quyn and Shahreen Bahadur were the wicket-taking bowlers in the game for Qatar Women as they took 2 and 1 wicket respectively.
Irene Alumo from Uganda Women who took 3 wickets in the game conceding only 3 runs off her 4 overs was the player of the match in the first game played today.
The second match was between Tanzania Women and Qatar Women where Tanzania Women won the toss and elected to bat first in the game. Batting first, Tanzania Women were able to score a strong score of 175 runs at the loss of 4 wickets on the board playing full 20 overs as Fatuma Kibasu and Saum Mtae made 52(44) and 49(33) respectively while batting in the game. Rochelle Quyn, Shahreen Bahadur and Saachi Dhadwal took 2, 1 and 1 wickets respectively in the game from the side of Qatar Women.
With the highest run in the game for the team from Aysha, as she played an inning of 28 runs off 21 balls, Qatar Women was able to add 98 runs at the loss of 9 wickets in 20 overs. Nasra Saidi, Agnes Qwele, Perice Kamunya and Tabu Saidi took 2, 2, 1 and 1 wickets respectively in the game for Tanzania Women. Tanzania Women won the game by 77 runs.
Tabu Saidi from Tanzania Women made her WT20I debut today in the second game being played today in the tournament.
