In a dominant display of power-hitting and disciplined bowling, New Zealand thrashed Pakistan by 115 runs in the 4th T20I at Mount Maunganui, taking an unassailable 3-1 lead in the five-match series. The hosts posted a mammoth 220/6 before bundling out Pakistan for a paltry 105 in just 16.2 overs, showcasing their all-round superiority.
New Zealand’s Batting Fireworks
New Zealand’s innings was a masterclass in aggressive batting, led by Finn Allen, who smashed a blistering 50 off just 20 balls, including 6 fours and 3 sixes. His explosive knock earned him the Player of the Match award. Allen was well-supported by Tim Seifert (44 off 22) and Michael Bracewell, who remained unbeaten on 46 off 26 balls. The Kiwis raced to 220, with contributions from Daryl Mitchell (29 off 23) and Mark Chapman (24 off 16).
Pakistan’s bowlers struggled to contain the onslaught, with Haris Rauf being the pick of the bowlers, claiming 3/27 in his four overs. However, the rest of the attack, including Shaheen Shah Afridi (0/49) and Shadab Khan (0/49), failed to make an impact.
Pakistan’s Collapse
Chasing a daunting target of 221, Pakistan’s innings never got going. They lost wickets at regular intervals, with Jacob Duffy wreaking havoc with a sensational spell of 4/20. Duffy removed key batsmen early, including Hasan Nawaz and Salman Agha, to leave Pakistan reeling at 9/3.
Abdul Samad was the lone warrior for Pakistan, scoring a fighting 44 off 30 balls, but he lacked support from the other end. Zakary Foulkes (3/25) and Will O’Rourke (1/29) also chipped in with crucial wickets, ensuring Pakistan were bowled out for just 105 in 16.2 overs.
