Cricket Australia has unveiled the schedule for the tenth edition of the Women’s Big Bash League, set to commence on Sunday, October 27. WBBL 2024/25 schedule has been condensed to 43 matches, including three finals games, aligning it with the shortened format of the men’s Big Bash League from last summer.
This season marks the return of WBBL action to the Gabba for the first time in six years, with Brisbane Heat scheduled to play against the reigning champions, Adelaide Strikers, on Saturday, November 9. Major venues such as Adelaide Oval, the SCG, and the MCG are part of an expanded ‘Stadium Series’ aimed at drawing larger crowds and enhancing the fan experience.
The tournament kicks off with a highly anticipated WBBL final rematch between the Strikers and Heat at Adelaide Oval. Sydney Thunder will play four matches at their new home, Drummoyne Oval, in November. Additionally, Perth Scorchers will take on Hobart Hurricanes at the WACA on Saturday, November 23, coinciding with the second day of Australia’s Test series opener against India at Perth Stadium.
The WBBL final is scheduled for Sunday, December 1, just one day after the AFL Women’s Grand Final. Big Bash clubs that secure hosting rights for the final can nominate a home ground, though Adelaide Oval may be unavailable for the Strikers due to preparations for the second Test between Australia and India, starting on Friday, November 6.
In an effort to boost competitiveness and excitement, the condensed schedule also aims to attract more spectators with matches held at iconic venues. Fox Cricket and Kayo will broadcast all WBBL matches live, ensuring fans can catch every ball of the action as part of Fox Cricket’s comprehensive coverage.
