Pakistan Women are currently touring England where they have played the first match of the 3-match WT20I series on 11 May 2024. With the second match to be played on 17 May 2024, the team have got enough time to improve their performances from the first match of the series. Let me tell you that despite the solid start, the Pakistan Women’s Team allowed England Women to make a big total of 163/6 by the end of the first innings from a point of 11/4 in 2.5 overs. Not only that, Pakistan Women’s Team from 50/2 in 5.2 overs got packed at 110 against England Women in 18.2 overs where Amy Jones got chance to showcase her glove-skills with the team. With 4 catches and a run-out from Amy Jones, it must be a performance with lack of focus for Pakistan Women’s Team.
Pakistan Women’s Team can still win the series by winning the remaining two matches of the series. To do so, focus can be a powerful thing for them with bowling strategy being also covering much role. Sadaf Samas was the only batter for Pakistan Women’s Team to score with 120+ strike rate in the match if we take the batters with 10+ scores. She was also the only batter to make 30+ for Pakistan Women’s Team. While for England Women, three batters played with 120+ strike rate with the top strike rate being 195.23 from Danielle Gibson who made 41 not-out from 21 balls. Amy Jones 37 off 27 and Sophie Ecclestone 19 off 11 were the other batters to bat with 120+ strike rate for England Women. Captain Heather Knight played an innings of 49 runs from 44 balls for England Women in a situation where England Women needed a batter to hold the inning.
Pakistan Women must learn from England Women on how to hold an inning in any situation. Batting, keeping the momentum, focusing on the game and extending the motivation are the key things for Pakistan Women to think of in the coming games.
