The upcoming Afghanistan vs UAE tri-series fixture has taken on a deeper meaning beyond cricket. Ahead of the T20I clash, players from both nations united in a solemn one-minute silence to honor the victims of the devastating earthquake that struck Afghanistan and neighboring Pakistan.
The disaster, which registered a magnitude of 6.0 in Kunar province, has left at least 800 people dead and more than 2,500 injured. For Afghanistan, already preparing for a demanding cricket calendar, the tragedy has cast a somber shadow over the sport.
