Women’s Ashes: Australia Women start the T20I series with a win

Australia Women have started the T20I series of Women’s Ashes with a four wickets win over England Women.

Australia Women had won the toss and elected to field first in the match.

Batting first, England Women made a total of 153 runs for the loss of seven wickets in the match. Opener Sophia Dunkley made the most 56 runs in 49 deliveries for the team in the match played. Amy Jones made a brilliant 40 not out runs in 21 deliveries. Heather Knight was the only other batter from the team to score in double-digits with 29 runs from 22 balls.

Jess Jonassen took the most of three wickets for Australia Women in the match with Megan Schutt and Tahlia McGrath taking two and a wickets respectively. Australia Women conceded five extras to England Women while bowling in the match.

Australia Women chased the target of 154 runs in 19.5 overs of the second inning of the match in Beth Mooney’s not out innings of 61 runs in 47 deliveries. Tahlia McGrath made 40 runs in 29 deliveries. Ashleigh Gardner was the only other batter from the team to score in double-digits and made 31 runs by facing 23 balls.

Lauren Bell, Sophie Ecclestone and Sarah Glenn took two wickets each for England Women in the match. England Women conceded no extras to Australia Women while bowling in the match.

Australia Women won the match by four wickets and led the 3-match series 1-0 against England Women.
