The Manchester Originals, having elected to bat first, set a target of 126 runs. Their innings started on a steady note with Laura Wolvaardt scoring 38 off 29 balls, supported by Beth Mooney with a solid 22 from 20 balls. However, the team struggled to maintain momentum against the disciplined bowling attack of the Invincibles.
The Originals managed to post a total of 125/4 from their allotted 100 balls. Key contributions came from Sophie Ecclestone, who remained unbeaten on 26 from 15 balls, and Kathryn Bryce with 11 not out. Amanda-Jade Wellington was the standout bowler for the Invincibles, taking 2 wickets for 22 runs in her 20 balls.

a dominant display at Edgbaston, Birmingham, the Northern Superchargers Women’s team secured a convincing 61-run victory over the Birmingham Phoenix in the 19th match of The Hundred Women’s Competition on August 6, 2024. This match saw outstanding performances, particularly from Alice Davidson-Richards, who was named Player of the Match for her unbeaten 49 off 42 balls.
The Northern Superchargers elected to bat first after winning the toss. Their innings, though shaky at the start, was stabilized by the efforts of Annabel Sutherland (30 off 23 balls) and a remarkable knock from Alice Davidson-Richards. Despite losing early wickets, including captain Hollie Armitage for a duck and opener Davina Perrin for 2, the middle order managed to steer the team to a competitive total of 115/5. Davidson-Richards played a crucial role, hitting five boundaries and anchoring the innings through challenging phases.

Georgia Wareham and Linsey Smith led the charge with the ball for the Superchargers, both claiming three wickets each. Wareham’s spell was particularly lethal, taking 3/12 in 16 balls, while Smith’s 3/12 in 20 balls ensured there was no comeback for the Phoenix. Grace Ballinger and Kate Cross also chipped in with two and one wickets, respectively, tightening the noose around the Phoenix batters.
