The auction of the very first edition of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) is set to happen on 13 February 2023 in Mumbai.
The auction will be a day long and up to 90 players will be sold during the auction.
Five franchises that were finalized after the bidding (see here) on 25 January 2023 will take part in the auction with every team having a purse of 12 crores Indian Rupees each.
As per the rules, each of the teams can buy a minimum of fifteen players and a maximum of eighteen players in the auction.

The auction will allow teams to buy up to seven overseas players which must include one from an Associate nation. This law of the auction will help associate cricket grow along with women’s cricket overall.
From the maximum of seven overseas players a team buy, they can field up to five from them in their XI, providing one is from an associate nation.
With many women cricketers from around the globe excited about the auction, followers of women’s cricket are too waiting for the exciting auction day of the Women’s Premier League 2023.
