Ryan Burl’s outstanding performance helped Zimbabwe secure a 2-1 series win over Ireland in Harare. Burl, who was named Player of the Match and Player of the Series, hit 30 not out from just 11 deliveries to guide Zimbabwe to a series-clinching victory in the chase of 142. He also contributed with the ball, taking 2 wickets for 28 runs.
The match was played on a tricky pitch that had produced middling scores in the first two games of the series. Zimbabwe’s Craig Ervine set the foundation for the home team’s chase with a solid 54 off 43 balls. Ervine was involved in important partnerships with Innocent Kaia, which helped Zimbabwe recover after losing their first wicket in the third over.
Another quick partnership of 24 from 14 balls was also crucial for Zimbabwe, as they held the innings together before Burl stepped up to finish the game off. Zimbabwe sealed the win with an over to spare.
Earlier in the match, Ireland had a difficult start, losing three wickets for just 19 runs. However, a 70-run partnership between Harry Tector and Curtis Campher helped them recover and post a competitive total of 141. Despite their efforts, it was not enough to stop Zimbabwe from securing the series win.
